How Our Roots Took Hold
I’m Wendy — wife, mom, and co‑founder of Sowing Seeds Farm. In 2012, our family left the fast pace behind and came to Tennessee searching for a healthier, more intentional life. We wanted land we could work with our own hands, food we could raise ourselves, and a place where our children could grow up close to the earth.
The property we found had once been a plant nursery. We added greenhouses, orchards, fenced pastures, and gardens. I fell in love with medicinal plants — learning the healing power of what was already growing here and planting even more. Before long, we were fully immersed in homesteading: raising meats, growing fruits and vegetables, preserving harvests, and selling extras at the farm and local markets.
In our second year, we began crafting small‑batch organic skincare — the beginning of Nature’s Hippie.
It was just one more way to share the goodness of our land with others.

The Journey That Led Us Here
My passion for healing plants runs deep. As a child, I lost my father to leukemia caused by Agent Orange exposure during the Vietnam War. As I grew older, I learned about herbicides, pesticides, and GMO farming — and I became determined to protect my family from harmful chemicals.
Before we moved to Tennessee, the best I could do was buy organic food from the store. But I wanted more. So, we bought land, and I dove headfirst into homesteading — pigs, chickens, horses, cows, gardens — all raised and grown with clean, natural practices. I studied plant medicine, herbal healing, and the importance of avoiding toxins at every turn.
That commitment is woven into everything we make and everything we grow.

Where Our Skincare Story Began
At first, I focused on what we were eating — but one day it hit me: what about what we put on our skin? Our skin is our largest organ, and it absorbs whatever we apply to it. If skincare contains harmful chemicals, those toxins enter our bloodstream and lymph system.
So in 2013, our skincare journey began. We studied commercial products — even ones labeled “clean” — and found synthetic fragrances, dyes, preservatives, and chemicals we didn’t want anywhere near our family. We set out to create truly natural, organic alternatives that were safe, effective, and made with integrity.
We started with soaps, then expanded into lotions, balms, scrubs, serums, and more. People questioned our commitment to strictly organic ingredients, but we never wavered.
We remain dedicated to using only the purest, cleanest, safest materials.

What Drives Us Forward
Our mission today is the same as it was in the beginning, and that is to educate and raise the bar on natural products. What started out as a personal soap-making project for our family has flourished into a small business with a full line of all natural skin care products – lotions, moisturizers, body butters, deodorants, beard balms and oils, lip balms, face and body scrubs, face creams and serums, shampoo and clay bars, and we’re not stopping there! New products coming soon include conditioning bars and a complete line of all natural and organic pet care products! Our goal is to inspire people to be healthier and happier!
One last thing … it has recently become part of our quest to be more eco-friendly in our packaging. We have switched our deodorants and lip balms from plastic containers to cardboard and our plastic jars to glass. Sometimes we ship our products in peanuts or plastic, but we have never purchased those items, they are being recycled!
We are constantly looking for ways to be healthy and keep the world around us healthy too!
